Confirmed from Sand Island Marine Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sand Island Marine Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (125 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Wood to buy, spacious sandy beaches and if you're lucky you will spot a Sasquatch on well maintained trails.”

This park is wonderful to walk around, especially with dogs and kids (no cars! Soft sand! Big trees! logs and such to play on). It’s about a mile / 20 minutes to walk all the way around. I love to kayak there on hot days and jump in the Columbia for a swim, or kick back on the beach.

Great place to camp. The entire staff, literally the whole crew, was phenomenal. Our group, well one of us, found the rock that was hidden. The prize= a free 3 day camping trip for up to 3 sites. Wood to buy, spacious sandy beaches and if you're lucky you will spot a Sasquatch on well maintained trails...

My family has visited this place for over 10 plus years and we love it here. They have great docks and lots of space on both docks for plenty of boats. We have watched this Island change so much. From a run down camp ground to something where lots of families can visit. Andrew and Beckie do the work of 4 people.

Pretty awesome place for camping. River views are wonderful. Very low key. Nice campsites. Definitely try to get one that is well shaded (#34 is great). Bathrooms (with composting toilets) are surprisingly not bad.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
