Confirmed from Sandy River Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Sandy River Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (61 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Keep your eyes open there are many beautiful “hidden” scenery.”

If you're looking for easy access to the river this is not the place for you. It's a one mile walk down a mostly Rocky path and then once you've played in the river you must walk back up hill one mile. But definitely worth it 🙂

This place is amazing, at 8am fresh smell of nature. Keep your eyes open there are many beautiful “hidden” scenery. Took the sandy trail down to the river and on my way back took the loop, great workout for sure! Muddy during this time of year but nothing extreme, make sure to take the right shoes.

A trail I helped carve out along with the other kids in my little home town in the late 70's became a real trail. Wow, whomever along with boy scouts did a great job making the path. My son and I really enjoyed the short 2 mile hike. The mile hike back up might be a challenge if you're not in shape.

Trailhead has no parking lot, you must park in front of private homes and turn around in someone's driveway. I met another hiker and he said we could park in school parking lot on Bluff Rd. and walk the short distance to the trailhead.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
