Confirmed from Shaddox Hollow Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Shaddox Hollow Trailhead
“The lake was completely gone in January, but beautiful scenery with fallen leafs!”
“Trail is clearly marked and easy to follow.”
“Very easy trail for the family and great views.”
Nice trail down to the lake and back up. I did this with my 5 year old, so pretty slow pace, in about 90 minutes. Beautiful views down by the lake, and most of the trail is in beautiful forest. Great in fall when the leaves are changing. There is a restroom at the trailhead.
This is an incredible little trail to hike. The walk is a loop and it's quite easy. However there are a couple of steep grade hills that will post a slight challenge, and a steep staircase too. The trail is a loop so you can't get lost, about 1.5 miles so not too long.
Nice gravel loop trail. We clocked 1.4 miles. Very well marked & maintained. The scenery was fine- wish we would have known to take the small blue trail to see the lake. Not sure if we’ll be back, but it was a pleasant experience.
Smaller one 1.5mi, but good trail for families especially with small kids. Our elder one enjoyed the hike. Trail markers are available throughout. Also there is a rest room at the trail head
Trail conditions & character
“There are a few spots where it's a pretty steep uphill, so I wouldn't recommend this as a first hike for anyone, but if you do them a fair amount, it's perfect.”

“Perfect trail with kids—lots to explore on this loop with a perfect break mid way through at the lake.”
“One of the many awesome trails located around hobbs SP, we hiked this one in the rain with our dogs it was very peaceful.”
“I suggest starting the trail from the left because the return is mostly flat back to the parking lot.”
“There’s a little trail that leads down to the lake, there’s a little trail that takes you up by the rocks, there’s flat forestry parts as well as rocky parts”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
