Confirmed from Shepard Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Waterfront green space with a boat launch & dock offering fishing, walking & picnicking with grills.
What runners say about Shepard Park
“The equipment is in great condition, you can tell whoever upkeeps the area really cares.”
“A little strip along the water edge with a great view of the water and boats.”
“Nice little Park for the kids, and some of it has a shady area over the play area ,,, gets hot in Florida .”
“There's a playground, there are paths to safely explore, quiet peaceful spots, and 🦋 and fish 🐟 and squirrels and birds and crazy lizards!”
Amazingly plan small little river front park with a great dock/walking trail ... perfectly designed! JMAC
Bring your children to the park. It's an amazing daylight experience. There's a playground, there are paths to safely explore, quiet peaceful spots, and 🦋 and fish 🐟 and squirrels and birds and crazy lizards! Sundays are a drum circle and a bagpiper to play as the sun sets.
Another hidden gem right off of US1. Small little park with plenty of parking. The clouds weren’t cooperating with a nice sunset tonight but it was still super peaceful. Nice boardwalk (not like the up north east coast beaches boardwalks). Literally boards you walk on.
Nice small park. Nothing extravagant. Right on the water with a short trail that runs around it. United Way just painted the trail for the kids with stations and activities along the way.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
