Confirmed from Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
The site of an ancient volcano, this park offers self-guided tours & features many hiking trails.

The hiking trails in the area are absolutely breathtaking! Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just starting out, there’s something for everyone. The trails offer stunning views of lush greenery, rolling hills, and beautiful landscapes. Each path is well-maintained, making for a smooth and enjoyable hike.
I love hiking here where volcanoes once spewed! There is an visitor center next to the parking lot that has some interesting facts about the history of the volcanic activity. There are samples of different kinds of rocks that were formed by the volcano that you can actually touch.
This preserve provides a great natural area for all kinds of recreation and respite. There are loops small and large enough for running. There are plenty of people walking their dogs. I witnessed several cyclists riding their bikes. The most unique aspect of this preserve was the educational aspect.
Nice hike with beautiful views. There are three trails which are all under 4 miles. Good place for walking and hiking. Limited shade prepare accordingly on a sunny summer day. Very limited parking at the trail entrances. There is street parking available and expect crowd on a weekend. I would recommend going early.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
