Confirmed from Skull Hollow Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Easy hiking spot with short and long loops, along with views of a lake.
What runners say about Skull Hollow Nature Trail
“We drove around the camping area and it seems like a nice remote and clean place to camp which we want to do.”
“Beautifully maintained path with beautiful views if you take the long trail there a hidden Jem it's a must try if you haven't”
I love hiking this trail! It edges along the shoreline of the lake for quite a distance. I recommend a trekking pole for some of the trail, as lots of rocks and tree roots are plentiful.
Why haven't we been here before? What a great trail. My advice is to take the Hiking Trail listed on the site map. This trail is very pretty with lots of overlooks. Be advised there are some steep grades to go up, but nothing overwhelming. There are several spots to sit on the bluffs and have a picnic lunch.
This is a great, short trail. They have three different routes to choose from of different lengths. I did all of them and they are all pleasant. This is also a great place to check out the beautiful fall foliage. Update: they now have a vending machine where you can buy a day pass. Bring a credit card!
Short. Wonderful hike around a rugged bluff overlooking the lake. Several overlooks and cutouts allow access to the water. The trailhead area is a nice place to relax or have lunch.
