Confirmed from South Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about South Trailhead
“Claremore Lake is a clean, well thought out, beautiful place.”
“It was a beautiful day, not too warm between the breeze and the shade provided by the trees.”
Went here a couple weekends ago to walk along the trail. It was a beautiful day, not too warm between the breeze and the shade provided by the trees. The trail is narrow in some parts, which isn't an issue unless someone on a bike comes along.
I have been going to the back part of the lake for like 17 years now. It is my happy place. The dogs love running free & swimming the front part with the actual park is really great too, but my dogs love getting off-leash & swimming. If you're dog is aggressive do NOT TAKE THEM THERE! PLEASE!!!
Well-maintained trails. On a Saturday in winter, I only saw one biker and a handful of walkers. Shoreline was beautiful. I walked for about an hour and a half about 3 miles total with a break. Some mud but not too bad. Trails were well marked. I'd return.
Claremore Lake is a clean, well thought out, beautiful place. Fishing from the bank is free. The lake is stocked and beautiful. Walking trails, a water park for kids, heated fishing dock, porta potties strategically placed and more.

The practical stuff

- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
