Confirmed from Skyview Basin Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Skyview Basin Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (71 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏃 great for running 2 mentions

“Great place to walk and run the energy off your dogs.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“I wouldn't really call it a park, but I do walk my dog here a lot and he really enjoys it.”

Not so much of a park as it is an open field for kids or dogs to run around. There is dog poop left everywhere thanks to lazy dog owners. We avoid going close to sun down because the mosquitos can get pretty bad. But we have flown kites and played with jump rockets because of the large open space.

It's not really a park, it's a water retention area. But it's a nice place to go for a walk. Its hidden away in the neighborhood, so its nice and secluded.

★★★★★ — Mel , Jun 2019

Nice place to walk around. It is kept reasonably well. I'm glad there are neighborhood parks like this.

★★★★☆ — Spencer , Jul 2020

I wouldn't really call it a park, but I do walk my dog here a lot and he really enjoys it.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 14 mentions

“Not to mention the giant rat that was the size of a shihtzu dog just camping out dead just bloating up from the gasses due to decomposition.”

Plan your run at Skyview Basin Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
