Confirmed from Sojourner Truth Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed riverside park offering a kayak launch, a boat ramp and picnic tables, plus a walking trail.
What runners say about Sojourner Truth Park
“No words to describe how beautiful is walking in the woods specially in the summer in upstate NY.”
“It's beautiful and peaceful, and the walking path nearby was beautiful.”
Cozy park on the shore of the Wallkill river at the rail trail parking lot. Easy kayak launch with a gravel entry. Parking for about 8 cars, with more space at the rail trail. Current is gentle and the banks are tree lined with agricultural fields or houses beyond.
As far as the boat launch goes, it's an excellent asset to have. I can't speak for any other facet of the park but the ramp. Access is well layed out and the gravel surface makes for good traction and mud free maneuvers for car-top and trailered vessels. No motorized boats permitted.
Cute park right on the water. Kayak rentals were available the day we were there. Wallkill Valley Rail Trail bike path goes right by it. Lots of parking. Close to downtown New Paltz.
Dog friendly and we had a nice stop on our way back to the city. The sidewalk is so nice and well shaded by gorgeous trees!

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
