Confirmed from South County Trailway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about South County Trailway
This is an amazing trail. The old train tracks have been converted to a new nature trail that stretches all the way from New York City to Albany where it splits in to. Keep going north to Canada or turn West towards Buffalo. The entire trail is paved and relatively flat so it's easy on the feet.
Beautiful trail especially in the fall and spring. You can use it for a local walk or exercise, to bike, walk your dog, or for an ambitious hike. The trail connects all the way up along the Hudson and also goes south to the Bronx into Van Cortlandt Park. The trail is paved and easy to walk and bike on except in snow.
Nice trail along the old Putnam division railroad tracks. Well paved and some beautiful scenery. There are some desolate areas so as with any place else in Yonkers exercise due caution.
