Confirmed from South Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public park with a playground and picnic facilities, as well as athletic fields, a tennis court, and a dog park.
What runners say about South Park
“Quite, clean, has a fenced-in dog area, canapé area with picnic tables, tennis court, and playground areas that have sand in those areas only.”
“There is a one way road that encircles the park which is ideal for walking/running.”
“Love this park for its open expanse; big loop to walk off the legs or take a jog; green lush and quiet!”
Great place to take a break from IH10 when travelling. Stop for a rest, a picnic, a walk around the park on the paved trails. Lively Tuesday evening with the best pickleball court full, a dance group practicing in the pavilion, and walkers getting in their steps.
Great open spaces. They often use for public events. Or visit for quiet picnic areas and walking.
This park is a wide open space. Has 2 soccer goals, two football uprights, 4 baseball backstops, a small playground with equipment, bathrooms, horse barrel racing area, and a small dog park. There is a one way road that encircles the park which is ideal for walking/running. The park is open from 7am till dark.
It’s a nice, big area, and the dog park is perfect. We like to walk around the parameter for exercise, and the dogs love to play in the fenced in area for dogs.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
