Confirmed from Independence Community Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“A lovely spot to walk through gardens, enjoy the shade of the trees, or stop in the library.”

I love this park! Has exercise equipment, pavilions, restrooms, the botanic gardens are gorgeous. Across the street are tennis courts. There's even a small theater and it's right by the main library with paths all over. The library has a garden cafe as well. The pavilions are available for reservation.

cant say too much for i have barely visited there, however, from what I did experience, it has numerous soccer fields which could possibly be used as baseball fields, etc...has picnic areas with picnic tables under gazebos...

Independence Community Park is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. It’s always clean, peaceful, and well-maintained. The playground is great for kids, the walking paths are smooth, and there’s plenty of open space for picnics or just hanging out.

We hold the Baton Rouge Mustangs youth lacrosse practices here. Fields are well taken care of and there is shade. It's a nice park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
