Confirmed from Southside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Southside Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (59 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

I absolutely loved riding the trails here today! There are a few that are easy, but be warned there are a lot of roots once you get on the hills headed down to the river. It's a great time if your comfortable on a bike, check the trail map and stick to the easier routs if your just out for a ride through the woods.

This trail system is a local gem and it's only improving! The trails are a bit rooty and rocky, but that's all part of the challenge. Be sure to wear a helmet and have fun!

★★★★★ — Evan , Jul 2021

My secret spot for mountain biking. Don't tell too many people that this is a great place to access miles and miles of dedicated mountain bike trails. The state park does ask for a parking fee, but can be avoided with an annual park passport.

★★★★★ — Mike , Nov 2023

8 mile loop of moutain bike trails and more trails that connect and go through the 8 mile loop. It does connect to the main park via a bridge over the river. I love hiking and trail running here. Clean and maintained trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
