Confirmed from Spring Creek Forest Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Spring Creek Forest Trails

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (68 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful area for walks and nature hikes .”

Public parking, restrooms, dirt trails, and wide cemented paths are available for visitors. I did see a plain-bellied water snake about 3-ft. long that crossed the dirt trail that I began walking down. I decided to take the cement path instead after that happened. I plan on going back to explore further.

Nice area to walk through. Feels like you’re out of the city. Not a very long trail so you can do it easily in less than an hour. Lots of little animals around and the trails are paved and unpaved so you don’t have to get muddy if it’s rained recently.

I love running and hiking here. I wish it was expanded by 2-3 the size.

I love these trails, and the Forest Preserve. It's a great way to feel surrounded by nature in the middle of all this urban sprawl. Recently the paved trails have been expanded from Garland Road to Naaman Forest High School behind the Culwell Center. While it is not as shaded as the section between Holford Rd.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
