Confirmed from Stevens Creek Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Stevens Creek Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (142 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful and great hiking trail!”

After recent rains the trail is all green and amazing. If you want to get lost in greenness of the nature spend some time here.

★★★★★ — Ghazal , Mar 2023

A nice hiking/biking trail in the heart of Silicon Valley along all year. Good shades in most of the trail from El Camino Real to La Avenida. The trail is along CA-85 from the south end until passing US-101, so it is noisy. Wearing AirPods to have a good stroll.

It's a beautiful long trail... You wanna start early evening then take a cab back from Shoreline as it gets dark a lot and no lights...

★★★★★ — Rahul , May 2019

This is one of my favorite biking trails in the South Bay. It goes up to the shoreline lake and joins the Bay trail. It's shaded in some areas which is a relief on sunny days. It also has some elevation considering you have to go across bridges over freeways.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
