Confirmed from Stewart State Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
State forest featuring hunting, trapping & fishing, plus hiking, biking & horseback riding.
What runners say about Stewart State Forest
“Beautiful State Forest with various parking lots and trailheads.”
There are so many trails for hiking and places to ride you bike. Some pretty good fishing and its just beautiful. Its a great place to spend the day exploring and just getting away from the everyday grind. Its also a great place for migratory bird watching as well as other things. I would highly suggest it
Great for cross-country mountain biking. Lots of options. The area has several old roads that traverse it, with plenty of trails in the woods throughout. Good for single-track beginners and also for more experienced riders. Orchard is a great beginner trail. Many of the trails are very flowy and fast. Super fun.
Lot's of trails and off trail adventuring grounds. Really great place if you're into geocaching as well, with several spots hidden all around. Bike friendly. Kid friendly. Well kept. It's an all around beautiful area. I will absolutely be returning once the leaves start to change in the next month or so.
I have been going to this forest for approximately 52 years. It is a beautiful forest. It used to be a couple of communities but the homeowners were required to sell their homes and move. Purchased thru eminent domain. It became the buffer zone for Stewert airport and still is.
