Confirmed from Stokes Landing Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Stokes Landing Conservation Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (76 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“If you are north of town looking for a good place to get into some beautiful nature and a little solitude, this is it.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“White trail is well marked.”

Nice, short hiking trail! Observation tower and picnic pavilion along the trail that both look out over the marsh/ river. Loops are 1.4 miles and 0.7 miles. Lots of mosquitoes. Mostly shaded path. We managed to get a stroller down the 1.4 mi path, though it was very bumpy! NOTE - there is minimal signage.

★★★★★ — Katie , May 2020

Despite most of the trail being covered in mud and water, the walk to the tower was worth it.

I've been meaning to come here for awhile and glad I finally did. After reading the reviews mentioning ticks and yellow flies, I sprayed myself head to toe with deet 3 times and didn't have any issues.

★★★★★ — Amy , Feb 2023

Great site for hikes. Mosquitos can get intense in hot months. There are always ticks, so check/bathe your animals and check yourself after visiting. There is an abundance of wildlife, and the platform overlooking the tide pools and intracoastal waterway is very neat. Binoculars are a great item to bring along.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
