Confirmed from Stonebridge Waterfowl Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Stonebridge Waterfowl Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (22 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🐕 dog-walking favorite 4 mentions

“Great for mini-hikes, great for dog walks during all seasons.”

Very nice place for young kids, some tree branches are very low where kids can enjoy. Multiple little board walks due to wetland. Best part is wooden bridge on the river and little stone bridge to cross the river awesome. Whole trail is around a mile, good to spend around an hour or so.

★★★★☆ — Vijay , Apr 2021

A very simple loop trail. The walk way is narrow and can be a little muddy in early July. Also have your bug spray with you. This trail might actually be better in the fall.

★★★★☆ — Mika , Jul 2024

Great mix of old field and Woodland Trails. Also river flowing through. Lots of Wildlife and a great place to walk.

★★★★★ — Louis , Nov 2018

Great walk in the woods, albeit on the shorter side than many other nearby options (eg, trout Brook, devils den). Frequently not as crowded as those spots, however, enabling easier social distancing while enjoying the out of doors.

★★★★☆ — Oliver , May 2020

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
