Confirmed from Strand Vista Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Coastal beach park known for its walking trails, striking ocean views & sunsets.
What runners say about Strand Vista Park
“At the beach, there's the really nice and well maintained walkway, or down in the sand - extremely beautiful walk especially on low tide.”
“It’s also an awesome spot for exercise, especially if you’re up for the stairs — they’re a great workout with beautiful ocean views as your reward.”
Awesome place with scenic and beautiful views. Free parking is a big plus. Walk down the beach from parking is good with some nice views of beautiful homes. Beach is a bit rocky, seems a good place for walkers and runners. There were not many people in the water, mostly people enjoying the view and cool breeze.
Strands Beach in Dana Point is such a gem! One of the best parts is that parking is completely free — no state beach pass required. There’s even a convenient free shuttle that takes you right down to the sand, which makes it super easy to get to the water.
Unbelievable- a free parking lot! And the beach is awesome! The neighborhood is quite opulent and nice to look at. You can even walk through and enjoy what it’s like to be part of that. Awesome trail on the south end.
Decent spot to walk your dog, though the trail is quite short. The view is nice of course. A Google search told me the beach would allow dogs, it does not. But we still had a good time here.

“The best part is the free parking, we went to a couple different beaches this day and everything was free to park.”
“Even though it's clearly marked everywhere that no dogs allowed on the beach and beach access sidewalk, there were a bunch of people with their dogs.”
“There are a ton of stairs to go down to the beach and climb back up on, but it makes it perfect for a little walk.”
“The beach is accessible through private properties, down (and up) about 200 stairs.”
“There is very clean restroom available at the end of paved sidewalk on beach on the left hand side from when you enter the beach.”
