Confirmed from Strickfaden Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Strickfaden Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (239 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 12 mentions

“It wasn't busy when we went right before 3 pm, awesome pirate ship theme, clean, and has restrooms.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Love this little playground and beautiful park!”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Pavillion, clean pleasant restroom, trails etc overall family friendly.”

It was a pretty decent park! They had a mommy and me swing and the play area is shaped like a ship. It even has a fun little whistle for the kids to play with and dual curly slides to allow for a fun race. There is also a cute gazebo, pavilion, bathrooms, and trails for walking. Lots to do!

This public place is a great outside venue off of Blue Rd. Easy to get to by car. Plenty of parking with really nice bathrooms. A covered picnic area and gazebo along with a public walking path and play area. Sandusky is lucky to have a clean and popular area to make memories.

I love the paved walking trails. They have sturdy iron benches at intervals for those of us with asthma or arthritis to rest for a few minutes before finishing the loop. There’s a short 5 minute loop and a longer 15 minute loop. There might even be a third loop we’ve never taken that’s an even longer interval.

★★★★★ — Madame , May 2025

Great facility with rentable kitchen to 2 half shelters with screens or 1 large venue, playground, gazebo, baseball field and walking trails, very clean bathrooms and ADA playground equipment...paved parking lot. Great venue for graduation parties, reunions, etc.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
