Confirmed from Sulphur Mountain Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Sulphur Mountain Trail Head
There's a lot of interesting history behind this place, and why oil and sulfur smells permeate certain spots here. It is a beautiful place to hike and mountain bike, especially in Spring. There's a significant ascent on the dirt road until higher up where it gets flatter, with wider views of valleys and hills.
It's March of 2024. After plentiful winter rain, the hills are lush and green. There is water in streams and ponds that have been dry for decades. Trees are green and full of bird life. It's a joy to run, hike, and bike along the road.
Endurance mountain biking path. Took me 2+ hours uphill. 40 minutes downhill. Trail tires better. Not technical uphill just an incline. Got to be careful downhill due to over-speeding. I wish I had more air in my tires.
This is a great local place to hike. It's pretty steep. Uphill and watch your step for tar. There is natural deposits leaking out of the mountain to give it that special sulfur smell
