Sunol Regional Wilderness is a stunning natural escape for hikers and nature lovers. Nestled in the rolling hills of the East Bay, it offers diverse trails ranging from easy strolls to challenging climbs, all with breathtaking views of wildflower meadows, rugged peaks, and serene streams.
Sunol Regional Wilderness offers a refreshing escape from the urban sprawl, boasting a variety of trails for all experience levels. Admission and Parking: The park charges a reasonable $5 entrance fee per car, and luckily, there's ample parking available throughout the area.
I love backpacking here as a local option. The hike isn't too miserable until the last uphill. There are a couple different routes to get to the sites. I think overall it is 3.7 miles if you take the main route. The scenery is always amazing. Pretty decent sky gazing as well. Sky camp is probably my favorite here.
This was my first time to this park and it did not disappoint. The trails are well maintained, lots of wildflowers in bloom, and green rolling hills were enjoyed. We did the canyon view trail to Little Yosemite. The canyon view portion was not heavily trafficked which made it nice to just enjoy nature and the views.
