Confirmed from Sunrise Mountain Overlook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic hiking destination and picnic spot with trails and a mountain overlook offering panoramic vistas.
What runners say about Sunrise Mountain Overlook
“The actual point (sunrise overlook) is only a few hundred feet from the parking lot but still feels secluded and is very scenic/panoramic.”
Great place to do a quick hike with some of the best scenery in the state. Connected to the Appalachian. Spot has four lookout areas. One along the road, one in the parking area, one on the left before the pavilion and the pavilion itself.
The trails are nice (a little rocky - I recommend good tennis shoes or hiking boots) and the grade isn’t too steep for someone not wanting a workout. The actual point (sunrise overlook) is only a few hundred feet from the parking lot but still feels secluded and is very scenic/panoramic.
I love this place. A place of peace and beauty. Wonderful hiking. Bring a lunch and sit in the rock Pavillion
It is a serene scenic view. It is a very short (5 min) walk to the view, beautiful scenery in three ways (South, East, and West) Walk was easy, but I have seen a lot of millipedes on the way.
