Confirmed from Switchyard Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Community park featuring picnic and barbecue areas, athletic courts and fields, a playground, and a stage.
What runners say about Switchyard Park
I take my kids here often as the playground is super neat. They've got a wonderful splash pad in summer, it's dog friendly, has picnic areas, pickleball, basketball, a biking and hiking paved trail, it has an outdoor workout area, a space w several raised beds for community gardening, too much to remember honestly but…
Excellent place to play from little crawlers to elementary age. My kids love to run back and forth from the splashpad to the playground. I enjoy the natural landscape of the playground. A true paradise for summer fun. There are also several shaded shelters with picnic tables.
Although its still under construction, the Switchyard park is shaping up to be quite a destination to visit in Bloomington. There will be a pavilion, amphitheater, skatepark, grass lawns, field, and walking trails, dog park and a splash pad
Me and my precious babies went to Switchyard park on food truck Friday and had a good time! I love the splash pad, sensory swings, a place where you can listen to music, watch movies on the grass and a bike trail!

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
