Confirmed from Wapehani Mountain Bike Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded outdoor area for mountain biking and hiking, offering trails around a lake, plus easy options.
What runners say about Wapehani Mountain Bike Park
“Its a beautiful area teaming with nature and the crowd is very diverse, close to downtown and free, it's a great place to make new/ hookup with friends and spend an afternoon.”
A great place to hike and bird watch without having to leave town. The trails are very winding so you feel like you're in a much bigger park. They're generally well maintained, but they can be muddy and some paths are prone to flooding.
I liked this pathway. It is better than many. Yes, it is lacking signage. It was cleaner than many, very little garbage. I drive a truck over the road and have visited quite a few. The first signs that go up should be, IMHO, how to contact the trail club, when and where they meet for work parties.
Hidden little gem. This nature preserve hosts several bike trails from beginner on. Its a beautiful area teaming with nature and the crowd is very diverse, close to downtown and free, it's a great place to make new/ hookup with friends and spend an afternoon.
This is my fourth year at Wapehani. For 45 minute rides, I could not ask for much better. Trails are twisty. Soil is premium Indiana clay with sections of small hills and some roots and rocks. It's a decent work out that is really fun in several sections. The woods are peaceful for a city park.

“We took our little dog on a very cold day on the moderate trails for a walk.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
