Confirmed from Tamarack Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Large preserve with hiking & cross-country skiing trails, plus a play area & orienteering course.
What runners say about Tamarack Nature Center
“My family and I enjoyed our visit to TNC on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.”
“Well marked trails with clear informational signs posted at key intersections.”
“A lovely, easy hike with some uneven grassy terrain beyond the boardwalk areas”
Incredible place! Came with my 4 and 7 year old and my 74 year old mother who struggles with her walking. The nature areas for kids are so simple and atmospheric. Imagination, getting down and dirty, climbing and building, beauty and exploring… it’s wonderful. My boys had a blast .
I wish we would have checked this place out sooner! Nice hiking options (differing lengths and some fun wooden walking bridges over marshy areas), a permanent orienteering course, nature center with turtles, snakes and other animals as well as taxidermy critters, pelts, books, activities, I could go on!
My family and I enjoyed our visit to TNC on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. A hand full of critters in the main building that you can see up close. Scoot was my favorite. A very social turtle who you see as soon as you walk in. The kiddos had a blast on the rocks, in the small play ponds, and with the tree forts.
Such a beautiful park, I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! Lots of wildlife with deer and turkeys coming out towards sunset. Tons of paved and cement trails that I will need to come back out to explore. Not too busy at all for a Saturday around 6PM. Fun play area for kids too!

- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
