Confirmed from Taylor Mountain Regional Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Taylor Mountain Regional Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (90 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“It has several trails, of varying difficulty, horse trails, BEAUTIFUL views and the best "bigger kid" playground.”

Literally the only place near my house with a steep trail. I love making it to the top and love reading my bible. This hike is decent. For me it's an easy hike with a ten minute challenge to the top lol. There's other easier trails.

★★★★★ — Xochitl , Jan 2025

$7 to park for the day on Petaluma hill road trailhead. A few of the trails are washed out and there are plenty of alternate routes if you use google maps to see the satellite view of trails. From the lot to the summit and back is about 4 miles ROUNDTRIP. Takes about 2 hours if your pace is casual.

★★★★★ — Classy , Jan 2023

Fantastic park! Multiple entrances. Restrooms at both main parking areas. The area off Petaluma Hill road has a neat kids play area just off the parking lot. Many trails. Some fairly steep. It's approximately 3 miles to the peak from Petaluma Hill road side. Great views and cows!!

★★★★★ — Nathan , Apr 2023

Nice hiking trail with several parking areas to start from. The park allows for bikes horses and dogs on leash the trails rise from the parking area up to the peak at about 1300 feet it is not a difficult hike but there are rocky and steep areas.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
