Confirmed from The Lake Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area that is also suitable for biking, with a restroom.
What runners say about The Lake Trail
“Nice, wide, clean trails that are well maintained.”
“Well kept hiking trail with beautiful views.”
“Canopy is varied with dense and sparse areas.”
Well kept hiking trail with beautiful views. Perfect area for photo backgrounds!
1-15-23 The longest and most "difficult" in the park at 1.9 miles in length. Listed as moderate, and that might be because of its length. I find it easy. Yellow blazes. Trail starts/ends at the visitor center and goes behind the lake. Decent views. Connects to Galax Trail near a spillway.
Went biking with the family. It's a lot of uphill and steps, where some of us had to actually get off the bikes and walk them, but they were fairly smoothe trails. They are made for hiking, not biking, so I can't complain. Nice, wide, clean trails that are well maintained.
Absolutely live hiking this trail especially during week when there is no Strollers or loud talkers.....just nature and a great work out. People learn to hike or walk with PURPOSE......that's how you get results
