Confirmed from The Preserve at Maxwell Creek's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about The Preserve at Maxwell Creek

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (105 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“Beautiful park with multiple well kept trails and a handicap accessible playground.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful park with multiple well kept trails and a handicap accessible playground.”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“This park features a short, or long if you want, shaded trail that is either concrete or packed gravel.”

It's literally a gem in the neighborhood hood. It's one of my favorites, throughout the year, going to walk, running, or bicycling. You will love it, however, could be challenging if you're not an expert or used to bicycle on trails.

There are a combination of paved paths with informational signs and dirt paths that lead through the woods and along the stream. The area is beautiful with something for everyone! There are playgrounds, a picnic area, and lots of lovely views. I highly recommend to anyone looking for some quality time outdoors!

After being stuck inside all week we decided to go find a new walking trail. I thought it was going to be all concrete sidewalks but was surprised to find there was dirt paths too. The concrete sidewalk had mile markers for running or biking and a cute playground that is being updated.

A genuine nature experience without leaving the city! The creek trail lets you escape to your own world of trees, water, flowers and butterflies, and goes on for a tremendous distance. Informational signs on the more "civilized" trail teach you about the ecology and history of the area.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“It may just be because of winter and heavy rains, but wildlife activity seems pretty low (could also be the large amount of dogs that get walked here).”
