We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of The Rail Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
3.5-mile walking path along the Lynx Blue Line, with bars, restaurants & artworks along the route.
What runners say about The Rail Trail
“Great, wide path for walking, jogging or biking!”
Went towards the city center in the trail and was disappointed how quickly it ended. Otherwise a fantastic trail
Great, wide path for walking, jogging or biking! We didn’t even walk the whole path, but it has a great length and location for a nice stroll, run, walking your dog or biking. We saw many people doing each of these!
Awesome area to walk, ride, or run. Lots of cool restaurants and hang out areas along the path. Such a great vibe in the whole area.
The best trail for a jog. Also surprisingly safe for the most part even in night time.
Trail conditions & character
“There are a few restaurants along the path and quite a few on the north part, as well as some breweries near the light rail station.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
