Dogs are allowed. I love this trail! The loop is a mile and a half, with some good inclines and switchbacks. It’s beautifully maintained and there’s always an abundance of wildlife to watch. The plaques that give more info about the flora and fauna are great.
Great hike to the top. Beautiful view. On a hot day consider starting early in the morning because it does get hot here and there are some stretches toward the top that don’t have a lot of shade. Or just bring plenty of water for you and your canine companion.
Three Bridges Trail is a nice little hike in the oaks, with educational signage and kiosks along the way. Be sure to make your way all the way to the top, for a great view of Atascadero. Be aware, it may be difficult to cross the creek, during rainy season.
This is a nice, short, out and back trail with a little loop in the center. I stopped to take a jog break from my LA to Bay Area drive. It's a solid climb, but gradual enough that it's good for running... Not a knee buster. I was there as the sun was setting so it was pretty, but a bit mosquito filled.
