Confirmed from Tioga Falls Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Tioga Falls Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (735 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 18 mentions

“It’s not too far to get up to the waterfalls, which are a nice beautiful cascading waterfall.”

Beautiful place for the family. Let’s be honest, the rocks on the trail will test your balance and agility. My three and four year old made the trip and the falls at the end was a wonderful site and tasted fantastic. Bring something to drink and a snack.

Trail is not very difficult, felt way shorter than 4 miles! To falls is 1.8 miles, you take the same trail back. Only confusing part is once you get to the train tracks there is a sign that says do not cross, but you have to cross to get to the falls trail. Waterfall was beautiful and definitely worth the visit.

This is a very lovely hike. It’s not too far to get up to the waterfalls, which are a nice beautiful cascading waterfall. We visited, and it was very icy, and some of the waterfall was still icicles.

Pretty steep incline hike wise.. its beautiful. All through the woods, very scenic. Just steep. But worth seeing those falls and the whole area. Wish I had found it earlier in the summer so I could enjoy it longer. Definitely will be back either way. Beautiful place

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 42 mentions

“Locally well known waterfall, nice second growth hardwood forest to hike through, this waterfall is on Fort Knox property so there are places that are off limits”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
