We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Top of Punk Out Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with a trail leading to a hilltop viewpoint.
What runners say about Top of Punk Out Trail
“No shade or water but great views on a clear day.”
My First Time Hiking This Trail and It Was Very Challenging. The Trail Is Very Steep At Times and I Would Recommend Wearing The Right Shoes. You Will Pass Poop Out On Your Way To Punk Out. Amazing View At The Top. Good Luck and Bring Water.
Great Mt. Biking and hiking trail. There are some Creek crossings, so be prepare to get wet. This is 90% single track trail.
Killer workout. If you catch the trail from Monroe Truck Trail it's marked with a Punk Out sign, just north of the Mystic sign, and you will veer right and up! You can take a more gradual climb to the same peak by veering left at the sign. Poop Out is the lower trail leading up to the Mystic sign from Dalton and GMR.
Nice short hike you can take the family on... We had a few kids in tow, ages 10 & 16. This is California so you will come across a snake or two in warmer weather. We took the steep trail up and the flatter trail down. No shade or water but great views on a clear day.
Trail conditions & character
“Rough uphill climb where you will find yourself using both your hands and legs, but once you reach that flag and take a deep breath, the surge of accomplishment is well worth it.”
“The views are fantastic, especially on such a stellar clear day.”
