Confirmed from Top of the World Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Pretty easy hike even with the rolling hills.”

This hike was very hard at times but I made the round trip. I,'m 73 years old and had to rest a few times yet the ocean views were awesom.

Can’t love this place more. Such beautiful scenery for landscape viewing and hiking adventures.

For someone who has average stamina, I would rate this hike moderate but fun! Pretty much an incline all the way up, did not expect to walk incline right off the bat at the entrance lol. Thankfully there are some leveled spots to take a break, otherwise it was a fun one!

My go-to place to hike when I visit Orange County each year. It is a good workout hiking to the top. My only issue is that too many people bring dogs in the middle of a hot and sunny afternoon. I wonder if they would want to hike up a steep hill in a fur coat.......

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
