Confirmed from Towpath Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Paved trail popular for walking and biking, with scenic surroundings.
What runners say about Towpath Trailhead
“It is kept in great condition (except for irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to poop right on the trail.”
“This place was beautiful.”
This is a great place to stop for a family hike! Bring boots or good shoes.
I love the Towpath Trail! It is a wonderful asset to our city and surrounding home additions. It is kept in great condition (except for irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to poop right on the trail. Shame on you!) and maintained, even in the winter.
Easy parking and safe trails are here. Trail in the area is level, paved, and regularly quite straight or slightly curved. It's a good area for an easy walk, a gentle bike ride, getting back into running. The plants and animals in the area are enjoyable.
Beautiful walk. We saw a dozen deer, who were not very skiddish and stood and stared at us, as long as we started at them.
