We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Trail to Shoshone Falls yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Trail to Shoshone Falls
“Easy trail up until jump site, then some moderate hills.”
The trail to pillar falls is cement in most of the steep areas, but then is a soft dirt until you get to the falls and the kayak launch area. Overall, the hike wasn't bad. We took our kayak down the trail, and given that I am over 40, it was a manageable trail.
Well maintained scenic walk/bike ride. Benches along route and bicycle air pump midway to Falls past jump site was nice addition. Easy trail up until jump site, then some moderate hills.
Very easy walk, not a hike. Short distance. There's an optional staircase that goes down 25 steps for an even closer view. Great for people with limited mobility.
It's an excellent walk with scenery that is just so much fun to see. Different times of days give different looks into the beauty of idaho. Though it can get hot at some points more often you will feel a nice breeze. Lots of families walk it on the weekends. Just be careful of the snakes.
