First of all, it’s an easy walk and good for all ages. We started off in Santa Clara by the Hamblin House and walked towards the Santa Clara City maintenance area to get to the trailhead. Once there you can go to upper trail or lower trail along the river.
Beautiful hike. Easy. Lots of petroglyphs to see. When you go down into the canyon you only hear the running stream and birds. Very pretty.
Trailhead has plenty of parking; a little bumpy coming in. The trail system throughout this area has some amazing scenery, cool history, and tons of space. Great place to get a break from all the dog poop in town.
Most people go out and back. It's possible to hike to the Anasazi trailhead and shuttle cars. Also possible to do a loop low and on top. Along the river there are several petroglyph sites. Look uphill for traces of people climbing up and upper rock faces.
