Confirmed from TVA Hickory Bend trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about TVA Hickory Bend trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (19 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Beautiful trail just kind of eerie. I did this by myself. Yea I recommend taking bug spray and warning little and big spiders. Be careful with copperheads as well. This trail takes you all the way to mentor hill lake, not at all that bad of a hike.

★★★★★ — El , Mar 2022

I hiked 2.65 miles round trip as shown in the photo. Total elevation gain was 463 feet. About the first mile was on an access road, then it turned into a normal hiking trail, which dead ends to another access road, at which point I turned around.

★★★★☆ — Wes , Mar 2024

Been hunting here over ten years. Definitely more of a managed hunting area than a hike. The trail isn’t necessarily maintained & lots of briars, ticks & spiders on trail. Pretty area but very raw type of land

★★★★☆ — Matt , Sep 2023

Secluded gravel trail with old growth oaks, tulip poplars, numerous 1' base diameter dogwoods, old stone fence remnants, flat bottom sink holes, and large numbers of native ferns, flowers and trees.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
