I have been visiting here for short hikes/walks. Usually it is not crowded, it is always fun to come here in the evening and watch the sunset, change in the color of the sky and the moon. The spring time is beautiful with all kinds of wild flowers. This was the first time coming here in late summer.
Tiny parking area right on the main road, but scenery is amazing pretty much all year round, and several trails to get to different view points. Easiest to get a good picture of the twin sisters rocks in the morning otherwise the. sun will be behind them
If you can make the climb to one of the two peaks, be prepared to stay for a long time because the view is captivating and peaceful. You cannot hear the highway despite all the semi-trucks. Should you have the time, read the Native American story on the National Park board at the entry to the trail.
This is an awesome, extremely beautiful, and awe-inspiring area. The Columbia River is so wide here that the wind being funneled through this over a mile wide, deep, long, winding canyon is perfect for wind surfing. Think about the way this area was formed thousands of years ago by the Great Missoula Flood.
