Confirmed from Underhill State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Quaint campground featuring log lean-tos & stone fireplaces, plus hiking trails with alpine tundra.
What runners say about Underhill State Park
“Easily accessible with many gorgeous hikes and well maintained trails make for a great family hiking venue.”
“The view was gorgeous as I timed it with the sunset - the trek down though in the dark though is rough so make sure to take that into consideration.”
What a great camp ground. You need to remember that it is built into the side of a mountain. All of the sites are walk in. So you must haul everything. The tenting pavilion saved us on a VERY rainy day. Without the pavilion it would have been a wet and cold Saturday. The restrooms were super clean and well cared for.
Camped here at a lean-to site for their opening weekend of 2020. Bathrooms are now single occupancy and cleaned twice during the day. They were very clean and it seems like all the sites are pretty private. You're a short walk to Mount Mansfield trail heads.
I hiked Sunset Ridge Trail. *Hiking boots highly recommended. I’d even say necessary although I didn’t have mine. Extremely beautiful hike. Not for the weak. $5 per person. Minimal parking. There are maps and signs along the way- it’s well marked. Lots of uphill pretty much the whole way.
GORGEOUS! Be ready with correct shoes, clothing and water. Be ready to head uphill. Coming back when tired out is downhill plus! ha! 🙂 Some wide, clear "roads" but many offshoot trails. Rocky and roots. Glorious views! Be aware of dogs. There are posts to know yours and be certain they are call trained etc.

“The campsites were clean, but a little too close to the parking lots.”
“It’s a great place to stay, bathrooms are very clean and proper, and campground is very quiet too.”
“Narrow paths at times and can be muddy after it has rained.”
