Confirmed from Van Zoeren Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Van Zoeren Woods

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (34 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Such a beautiful place to walk, especially in the spring.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Very peaceful with the exception of some minor traffic noise.”

Find Van Zoeren Woods 1 mile off Chicago Drive on 56th Ave. Driving through Zeeland’s flat farmlands, I could hardly believe I would find woods- but they were! Although the trails are not marked, I did not get lost. Three trails loop back to the same entry point.

Nice woods for a walk! Trails are wide and made of crushed gravel. Good for all-terrain or jogging-style strollers. As of spring 2023 they now have a covered area with picnic tables by the parking lot. Great place for a picnic!

New trails are great! Such a beautiful place to walk, especially in the spring. Wide gravel trails. Hilly. Picnic area.

★★★★★ — Erin , May 2024

Its a very nice park with crushed gravel paved trails thru out. Nice asphalt parking with a large covered picinic shelter. Last week when I was there they were working on installing some bridges along the trails. It was a bit bigger than I thought it was originally.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
