Confirmed from Verdugo Mountain - Beaudry Fire Road Loop's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Verdugo Mountain - Beaudry Fire Road Loop

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (54 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The North section of the loop feels pretty remote and sheltered for a fire road, and the top and South have beautiful views all the way to Catalina.”

Quite a hike. Someone said it's a 90 minute loop from the split between Beadry N & S but the whole thing took me about 4 hours, including picture-taking. S is steeper- I went North, and did a few false-starts trying to take South down but not sure where it was. N was plenty steep for my knees going down anyway.

★★★★★ — Shona , Nov 2018

One of the best hiking and mountain bike trails in the area. Great for beginners too. You'll love the scenery. On a clear day you can see all of L.A. Burbank and Catalina Island.

It was my first time hiking this route, I started at 5PM and took the Northbound trail which is 2.1 mile to the top, and it started up nice and easy but after a few turns the road started to get steaper all the way to the the top by the stone bench by the tower.

★★★★★ — Hovik , Jul 2018

Nice conditioning hike during the week. Not much in the way of views until you get up to Tongva (if you start up B. North) but for some reason, my cellphone gets reception right until the split with Verdugo motorway, so I can listen to music. Always keep alert for coyotes though, and rattlesnakes.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

⛰️ Hills / elevation 6 mentions

“You get shade from the hill with the sun setting on left side of the Canyon, and the best route to hike down is from the South side as you get natural light from the sunset.”
