Confirmed from Vermilion River Reservation: Mill Hollow's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Vast park with tree-shaded trails, water access, a settler's cabin with exhibits & a concert stage.
What runners say about Vermilion River Reservation: Mill Hollow
“Each beautiful but if you came to see the shale cliffs- go to Mill Hollow.”
Great place to go for a great little hike. A bit over 3.5 miles, the trails take you winding along the Vermilion River. The trails are well marked, with yellow, blue, and red markers. All flat with grass, pea gravel and wooden trails. Nice long wooden bridge to get you over a low lying area.
Biggest thing learned today: Bacon Woods and Mill Hollow are two separate sections. Each beautiful but if you came to see the shale cliffs- go to Mill Hollow. Bacon Woods has groomed trails with boardwalks and big trees! Mill Hollow has openings along the river for cliff viewing!
This place is so beautiful. It’s one of my favorite river parks to go to. The only reason I’m giving it four stars is because every time I have been here during a week day they are doing some sort of landscaping.
My family and I held a family reunion at Mill Hollow recently. It is the perfect place for reunions, picnics, or just to relax by the water. They have nice walking trails as well. It is such a beautiful place to visit. I highly recommend Mill Hollow. 😁
