Confirmed from Vultures Knob's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Demanding mountain biking area featuring singletrack sections and steep inclines.
What runners say about Vultures Knob
Great place to ride for the day or weekend. Camp wherever you can pitch a tent and all for a donation. Trail is fun and grueling in spots.
This Trail is a great place to improve your skills. It has a little bit of everything. It has flowy sections, steep Punchy climbs and gnarly downhill it is not for the faint of heart it will definitely test your Technique but overall a blast to ride will definitely be back!!!
Good cross country mountain bike trails. I've been going for several years now and the quality seems to have deteriorated slowly. Still nice trails and would recommend them. They have signs posted in the shack requesting that you leave a donation and sign a waiver.
I love this place! Yeah it’s basically one big trail but it’s so well marked that even I never had to guess - and I get lost a lot. TBH I had as much fun here as the last time I went to Raystown, plus it’s way quieter and far fewer people.
Trail conditions & character
“It has a bit of everything with flow, old school, jumps, technical climbs, technical downhill, skinny obstacle options, and lots of climbing all packed in to a 7ish mile trail.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
