Confirmed from Washington Ditch Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Washington Ditch Trail
“Really nice easy walk, either on the boardwalk trail, or to the lake.”
Decided to try out the Washington Ditch Trail. I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the afternoon very much. I rode the mountain bike, but anything you would take down a dirt road would probably be fine. I saw lots of wildlife which made the trip worth it there. Lake Drummond is at the end of the trail. The views were awesome.
So many birds on the boardwalk trail. The tornado went through and created a fantastic edge environment.
Great hike! Flat easy trail. Lots to see. Nice views of the lake and along the way.
If you live in the Hampton Roads area and looking for a place to get close to the nature, Dismal Swamp NWR is the place for you. Several trails here and lot of wildlife and birds. Dismal Swamp has more bears compared to other NWRs in the close NC parks. Spring and fall are best times to catch migratory birds.

“Just a flat walk, but with no cell service, we spent more quality time laughing/talking/making up games.”
“Really nice easy walk, either on the boardwalk trail, or to the lake.”
“There is handicapped parking and a 3/4 mile accessible trail, which was nice to see.”
