Confirmed from Waterfall Trail, Settlers Cabin Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Waterfall Trail, Settlers Cabin Park
“The trail itself is better than the destination, a great easy walk to the fall on a nice well-maintained trail, mostly downhill.”
“While these are well marked, it is NOT easy to hop on one and know where you are going.”
“The trail itself is better than the destination, a great easy walk to the fall on a nice well-maintained trail, mostly downhill.”
This was a peaceful and easy walk for my dog and I. My (very slow walking) 15 year old dog and I made it to the falls in about 15-20 minutes. There is a picnic table by the falls. There is a parking lot, dog park, and porta-potty right at the entrance.
Nice hike down. Start at dog park and you will see a sign for the trail. Hike back is uphill.
Was not able to run all the way to the waterfall due to muddy conditions, but still able to see it
Walked almost to the falls but not all the way due to the trail being a little too muddy on the way down to the river. But we could see the cute little water fall before we turned around. The trail itself is better than the destination, a great easy walk to the fall on a nice well-maintained trail, mostly downhill.
Trail conditions & character
“Going back was only slightly more effort due to the gradual uphill as you work your way back to the parking lot (right by the dog park).”

“Walked almost to the falls but not all the way due to the trail being a little too muddy on the way down to the river.”
“After getting on the green trail, where a regular visitor shared was a loop, we walked for 30 mins then turned around because we simply did NOT know where this was taking us.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
