Confirmed from West Bend IAT Segment Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about West Bend IAT Segment Trailhead
“Parking lots (other than at the park entrances) are sometimes small but the trails are very well kept up.”
“Continue on this Ice Age trail past Ridge Run Park and you will come across gorgeous forests with full of lily in ponds/lakes.”
One of our favorite local hikes, starting at the trail head on Paradise drive and heading northwest. Just under a mile in is a very nice little footbridge over a stream. Please do stay on the trail as it passes through and next to provate property. Saw half a dozen deer on our last outing.
I wish I had explored this trail sooner. The trail is really gorgeous and full of vegetation. It is also very clean. If you pay close attention you can find a variety of fungi growing.
Ice Age Trail West Bend Segment - on Paradise Drive is the starting point from the south end. This is an excellent starting point with nice changes of scenery as we hiked northbound. Parking lot is small - only about 8-10 lots available. There was plenty available in the afternoon on Saturday at the end of July.
This segment, starting at the parking area off Paradise Drive, is shady and fairly wide. You could probably manage a jogging stroller on this trail. No tall grasses, so you don't have to be as worried about ticks. If you have 90 minutes, you can make it to Ridge Run Parks' shelter and bathrooms then return.
