“Particularly beautiful in the fall when the leaves turn.”
This trailhead overlook is paved for easy walking and handicapped access. The overlook view is not far up the trail and provides panoramic views. The view across the river goes on for many miles. Particularly beautiful in the fall when the leaves turn.
If you’re wanting a perfect fall trail this is it! Peak colors are usually last weekend of October to first couple weekends of November. We go every fall. It’s our favorite fall hike! It’s also beautiful after a snow!
PROs: BEAUTIFUL!! Peaceful. Love the trees. Plenty of parking slots or along the road. Furry companions are welcome. CONs: I'm sure there's ticks, mosquitoes, wasps, & snakes out there. Ugh! We were just riding the Harley through to stretch our legs. We weren't dressed for the hike nor shielded from critters.
Best trail at Weston Bend state park; take the West Ridge + Harpst loop for an even longer hike
