Confirmed from WG Jones State Forest Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Absolutely love going with my dad and my pup. Love exploring all of the trails. Only one concern they do have a few small bridges in need of repair.

★★★★★ — Liz , Oct 2021

I loved it. I recommend it; however, they could improve the walking areas and extend them to more deep in the woods. It needs some restroom and lamps for the night. It would be perfect if the trails were more clean.

★★★★☆ — Persia , Sep 2020

I enjoyed bopping around the trails on my bike. Most of the trails are like fire roads, really wide, really sandy and well tended. There are a few that are slightly wider than a single track. The trails are shady, and there is abundant wildlife, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and birds.

★★★★☆ — Scott , Apr 2024

This park is beautiful. The parking lot is right at the start of the trail head and there are well posted signs for you not to get lost. This place is also a haven for photography as the woods make you feel completely out of the city.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
