Confirmed from Whiting Reservoir Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Easygoing trails around a reservoir for walking, running and strollers.
What runners say about Whiting Reservoir Trail Head
“4 mile walk around the reservoir is a beautiful natural resource in Holyoke MA.”
A wonderful place for a walk or run, though no dogs are allowed at Whiting. If you have a dog and want to take a walk, take the M-M hiking trail up the hill from the parking area.
A smooth surface for a walk or run with a nice view of the water. Very pleasant.
Plenty of parking with easy access from 141. The only hard part is crossing 141 to reach the trail head, surprisingly there is no marked crosswalk area. The trail itself is nice & wide. I'd call it more of a nicely graded, hard packed gravel road.
The approx. 4 mile walk around the reservoir is a beautiful natural resource in Holyoke MA. I have been fortunate to enjoy it for the last 45 years. The Fall folliage is a very special time. However, Summer 2020 has the pesty black flies and they greet you at the gate on Rte 141 side.
